Duties

Help
  • Serves as Chief of the Financial Audit and Compliance Branch for a three-star Headquarters and works under the general supervision of the Resource Management Director.
  • Serves as an agent of the Commander, overseeing accounting, financial and managerial issues that require process documentation, compliance analysis or examination by financial professionals.
  • Exercises managerial authority for the Risk Management and Internal Control program.
  • Identifies accounting and operational requirements to support existing or new activities or missions.
  • Maintains extensive involvement with counterparts for resolving financial and operational problems or to enhance the accuracy.
  • Interprets statutory, regulatory, or financial policies and procedures generated by higher accounting authorities, HQDA, and USSOCOM as it affects the Command.
  • Executes the administrative and personnel management functions related to the accomplishment of the assigned mission.
  • Responsible for the management oversight function of the subordinate command internal review programs.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret Security Clearance with (SCI) Special Compartment Information access.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • Must successfully pass urinalysis testing prior to employment and periodically thereafter.
  • This position also requires travel (10% of the time), CONUS and OCONUS for 30 days or less
  • This is a Financial Management Level 3 Certified position.
  • This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing oversight and managerial authority of audit and compliance programs for the organization; identifying financial trends of command activities to ensure quick identification and resolution of issues; and establishing polices for facilities, equipment, manpower and funding necessary to accomplish the mission. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
