Summary

Whitetail Ridge Ski Area is one of only three ski hills operated by the Army. Downhill skiers and snowboarders of all skill levels will find four runs equipped with a self-loading T-bar lift. Up to six tubing runs are serviced by our new Magic Carpet and are very popular with both children and adults. A full range of equipment is available for rent in the Chalet, which also houses full food and beverage operations.

Duties

Help
  • Instructs groups and individuals in daily and weekly ski programs, using a variety of teaching methods to effectively communicate to students who have a wide range of abilities and backgrounds. Teaches children as well as adults.
  • Ensures proper safety procedures are followed at all times and that students learn in a safe environment. Responsible for ticket handling from groups of students and must maintain good internal control practices to keep track of tickets.
  • Assists with program registration, equipment issue, ski lift, and cleaning duties. Reports any problems to the Manager as soon as possible in order to maintain high quality service to the guest.
  • May be involved in designing, building and maintaining the snowboarding course, by building jumps and installing rails using hand tools. Works with the maintenance crew by coordinating the work to be done, ensures the course is safe for customers.
  • Ensures that proper safety procedures are followed at all times by customers and employees on the course. Must always maintain a positive attitude around and towards guests in order to project a positive image for Ski Area and all MWR programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Must have or be able to obtain current American Red Cross First Aid and CPR/AED training certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age by date of appointment in order to comply with state/local law.
  • Appointment is subject to completion of a favorable background check/investigation Childcare National Agency Check (CNACI) to determine suitability for this position. All local background checks will be re-verified every 5 years.
  • Documentation of good mental and physical health and freedom from communicable disease. Successfully complete all required background checks to include a health screening. An annual health screening will be required throughout employment.
  • Driver’s license will be required if operating government vehicles.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts of weekdays, weekends, nights and holidays. Must be able to work outdoors in cold, wind, snow, rain, etc.
