Duties

Help
  • Sets up bars for operation, obtains cash bank and stocks service bar. Keeps bar and work area clean and sanitary.
  • Prepares a limited variety of simple alcoholic beverages as requested by patrons and wait staff.
  • Identifies persons who become unruly or who appear intoxicated, resolves the problem or seeks assistance in accordance with established procedures.
  • Provides face-to-face customer service in a fast-paced environment.
  • Records sales and makes change or prepares charge slips. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Must meet meet state/local age requirements (21) for the serving of alcoholic beverage at the time of appointment
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment physical is required for this position. Regularly lift and carry items weighing up to 20 pounds. Occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 40 pounds. Stands for prolonged periods.
  • Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 4 hours initial food sanitation and safety training is required within 30 days of employment and a minimum of 4 hours refresher training annually.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a medical examination. Incumbent is required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation.
  • Work is primarily indoors. May be exposed to cuts and bruises.
  • Must be able to work during the hours of operation to include nights, weekends and holidays as needed. Hours are intermittent and require availability during the afternoon and evening hours. This position does not have a set shift/ schedule.

Qualifications

Qualification Requirements are:

  • Meet state/local age requirements for the serving of alcoholic at the time of appointment.
  • Be able to lift and carry weights up to 20 pounds.
  • Possess math skills necessary to calculate patron bills and take inventory.
  • Skill in mixing and serving alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages.

Highly Qualified candidates will have the following:
  • Possess at least 1 year of bartending experience.
  • Possess a valid ABC (Department of Alcohol Beverage Control) license.

PCS Costs
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
FWS Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position.
  • All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee.
  • Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800.
