As a GENERAL SUPPLY SPECIALIST, GS-2001-07, (The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a General Supply Specialist in a developmental capacity) you will perform developmental assignments of moderate difficulty where work procedures are established, and a number of specific guidelines exist. Work assignments consisting of a series of specific and related tasks have been selected to orient the employee in the practical application of basic Supply principles, concepts, and techniques. Assignments are combined with training to further develop analytical skills and techniques as a General Supply Specialist. Assistance in solving problems is available from the supervisor or a higher-graded specialist. Independently performs recurring assignments of limited, but gradually increasing, difficulty and complexity. The employee is responsible for locating and selecting the most appropriate guidelines and procedures for application and making minor deviations to adapt the guidelines to specific cases. Analyze routine problems that are encountered and resolves them. Refer deviation, problems, and unfamiliar situations to the supervisor for assistance. Work with other specialists in planning and conducting special initiatives, studies, and projects. Assist in preparing reports and briefings outlining study findings and recommendations. Draft or prepare a variety of documents to include newsletter items, responses to routine inquiries, reports, letters, and other related documents. Perform other duties as assigned.

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.

Qualifications

Military Grades: Enlisted (SrA/E4 to TSgt/E6)

Minimum Requirements: Experience, education or training involving administration of supply management, storage, cataloging, packaging and distribution or other work which provided the applicant with a general knowledge of one or more aspects of the supply field. Experience using computer and automation systems.

Specialized Experience: Must have at least 12 months experience, education, or training in researching documents or other resources to coordinate inventory requirements. Knowledge of stock levels, inventory, shipping, receiving, requisitioning and requirements of supplies and equipment. Experience involving the control of supply stocks and accounting for equipment. Knowledge of supply management, cataloging, maintenance and disposal procedures. Experience which required person-to-person contacts to convey information and ability to compile reports, letters, memoranda, etc.

Education
