As a HEALTH TECHNICIAN, GS-0640-08, you will:

This position is located in the Medical Group at an Air National Guard (ANG) Wing and reports to the Health System Specialist.

The purpose of this position is to The primary purpose of the position is to serve as the functional expert for issues pertaining to Aerospace Medicine and Force Health Management programs. Incumbent manages essential programs, which impact individual medical readiness (IMR) and personnel fitness for continued worldwide deployability. The position occupant serves as a member of or an advisor to, management boards and committees as well as Wing leadership regarding Force Health Management and Aerospace Medicine.

Qualifications

General Experience: (l) Any type of work that demonstrates the applicant's ability to perform the work of the position, or (2) experience that provided a familiarity with the subject matter or processes of the broad subject area of the occupation.

Specialized Experience: Must have 12 months experience equivalent to the next lower grade. Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Applicants who have the 1 year of appropriate specialized experience, as indicated in the table, are not required by this standard to have general experience, education above the high school level, or any additional specialized experience to meet the minimum qualification requirements.

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities (KSAs): Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit a separate sheet(s) addressing the Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) and how they relate to work experience, education or training.

  • Skill in performing administrative duties in a healthcare setting that require the use of technology including but not limited to Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, OneNote, and Teams.
  • Skill in applying an extensive body of rules based on regulations, procedures, and precedents relating to programs.
  • Knowledge of information management systems and the ability to compile various special and recurring reports utilizing these systems.
  • Knowledge of records management programs with the ability to maintain records, analyze records and audit data.
  • Skill in identifying trends and patterns and reporting results to leadership for corrective action.

EVALUATION METHODS:
Each applicant considered to possess the minimum qualification requirements will be further evaluated in accordance with the procedures outlined in SDNG Technician Pamphlet 335-T and subsequent MOAs.

BASIS FOR RATING: Qualified candidates will be assigned to one of three quality categories: "Best- Qualified", "Well-Qualified", "Qualified".

  • "Best-Qualified" Level. Candidate possesses the qualifications that substantially exceed the basic requirements of the position and would allow the candidate to perform effectively in the position almost immediately or with a minimum of training and/or orientation.
  • "Well-Qualified" Level. Candidate possesses the qualifications that exceed the basic requirements of the position and would allow the candidate to perform effectively in the position within a reasonable period of time (3-6 months).
  • "Qualified" Level. Candidate possesses the qualifications that meet the basic requirements of the position.
