Duties

Help
  • You will perform routine duties in assisting small arms repairers of higher grades in repairing and rebuilding small arms weapons.
  • You will handle all firearms with the utmost care, observing all safety and security requirements during assembling and disassembling phases.
  • You will be required to carry an authorized firearm at all times and must be able to use deadly force if warranted.
  • You will check all weapons being issued in order to determine any easily recognizable malfunction of the weapon or damage.
  • You will clean weapons which are unassigned to specific individuals.
  • You will ensure the security and accountability of a variety of controlled weapons, communications equipment and ammunition.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • You must be able to read, write, and speak English. You must be 18 years of age or older prior to start of employment.
  • Required to provide Prior to Firing Inspection (PFI) and Limited Technical Inspection (LTI). Incumbent must complete the US ARMY Armorer Certification Course or HQMC approved equivalent training within 12 months of hire.
  • Incumbent must satisfactory pass the Police Applicant Suitability Review (PASR) investigation. Must complete Arms Ammunition and Explosives (AAE) training prior to employment and maintain as required.
  • You may be required to handle and process potentially hazardous or contaminated items.

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: I have the ability to perform common tasks including 1) Disassembling small arms such as rifles, pistols and shotguns; and 2) Conducting inventories, issuance (checking in and out of arms and ammunition), and records management of weapons and ammunition.

Additional information

This position requires the ability to meet legal requirements for carrying a firearm. Incumbent must pass all weapons qualification test prior to assigned duties and responsibilities and must pass all re-qualifications as required.

Work regularly includes assignment to a rotating shift, including weekends and holidays.

May be required to respond to off base circumstances as directed by the installation commander, in accordance with USMC and DOD policy.

Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license and be able to maintain a U.S. Government emergency vehicle operator's license.

Incumbent must be able to read, write and speak English.

Must be 18 years of age.

Overtime may be required.

The position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position.

This is a Department of Navy Drug Testing Designated Position (TDP). Required to undergo pre-employment urinalysis requirements and sustainment drug testing

Incumbent must able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.

May be required to handle and process potentially hazardous or contaminated items.

This is a mission essential position.

Must be a U.S. citizen; pass a National Agency Check and local back

Incumbent must satisfactory pass the Police Applicant Suitability Review (PASR) investigation.

Failure to meet conditions of employment may result in disciplinary action or termination.

Must complete Anns Ammunition and Explosives (AA&E) training prior to employment and maintain as required.

Required to provide Prior to Firing Inspection (PFI) and Limited Technical Inspection (LTI).

Incumbent must complete the US ARMY Armorer Certification Course or HQMC approved equivalent training within 12 months of hire.
