Help
  • The incumbent will support research efforts related to the following objectives:
  • (1) the generation of novel molecular tools and methodologies for the construction of immunoassays
  • (2) immunoassay development and optimization
  • (3) the evaluation of immunoassay performance in laboratory and field settings in California and other States.
  • Support efforts to characterize and deploy immunoassays for surveillance of disease-causing agents.
  • Construct test kits, network, collect samples, perform tests and write research results for scientific publication and communications.

Qualifications

This position requires a Ph.D in Biological Science or a related field of study that has equipped the applicant with the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.

Knowledge of biochemistry, antibodies and their application in immunoassays for the detection of antigenic targets is desirable.

Applicants must also meet basic Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standard's requirements of the scientific discipline necessary to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.

INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT FOR GS-0401
Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
OR
Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
