Term - 2 Years. This is a term position expecting to last at least 2 Years. If warranted, the agency has the option of extending term appointments up to the 4-year limit in accordance with 5 CRF 316.301(a).
INDIAN PREFERENCE: Preference in filling vacancies is given to qualified Indian candidates in accordance with the Indian Preference Act of 1934 (Title 25, USC, Section 472). As a Security Guard GS-0085-5, your typical work assignments may include the following:
Perform typical daily duties and responsibilities of the security guard, including foot and vehicle patrol and inspections in accordance with appropriate regulations.
Coordinates information and responses to ensure consistency and conformance with program policies.
Interact with public, employees, students, local law enforcement agencies and emergency response personnel.
Provide support for planning, review and reporting for program/project studies.
Documents and maintains daily duties and reports as required by program policy by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
In emergency situations, administers First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
Background investigation will be required for all hires.
Appointment may be subject to a 2 year trial or 1 year probationary period.
Selective Service Registration is required for Males born after 12/31/1959.
Term appointments do not confer competitive/permanent status (5 CFR part 316).
Required to obtain (within 6 months of hire) and maintain First Aid certifications in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillation (AED).
This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) that requires pre-employment drug testing and is subject to random testing thereafter.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS: The duties of these positions require moderate to arduous physical exertion and/or duties of a hazardous nature. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
GS-05 Grade Level: Your resume must demonstrate at least 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level that includes: Experience such as work with a Federal, State, municipal, local, or private protective organization that involved the protection of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; or maintaining order and protecting life. Such experience must have provided a knowledge of protective systems and techniques. Acceptable experience includes service in the Armed Services or Coast Guard that involved the performance of guard duties on a regular or intermittent basis.
