Summary

Assists with accurately recording all aspects of legislative business in the House, both in the minute book on the Floor and electronically. Assists in the proofing and publication of the House Journal. Assists in recording and taking signatures accurately on discharge petitions. Works in a small workstation in an office environment without an expectation of privacy, where noise levels are usually moderate.

Duties

Help

Assists in the processing, engrossing, and enrolling of all bills and resolutions that pass the House. Helps in the preparation of all bills, resolutions, amendments, and messages to the Senate. Helps prepare messages to accompany official documents notifying the Senate of House actions. Willingness to learn Text Pad, XMetaL, MicroComp WordPerfect and Word.

Qualifications

Ability to perform the major duties described above. Thorough knowledge and understanding of House Rules, procedures, and parliamentary processes. Experience working in a team, possessing strong communication skills, excelling in an often fast-paced environment, and exercising discretion and independent judgment in fulfillment of responsibilities. Must possess excellent proofreading abilities and be detail oriented. Willingness to work extended hours, including late nights and weekends, in an office environment, A Bachelor’s degree in a related field, along with strong organizational and administrative skills are required. Must be competent in the operation of Office 365. Must be willing to learn or be familiar with Text Pad, XMetaL, MicroComp, and Word. Must have an analytical mind and be detail oriented.
