Summary

Fort McCoy operates one of the most premier Outdoor Recreation programs in the Army to include a campground and ski area. Pine View Campground includes over 170 campsites, 17 cabins, camp store and various guest rental equipment. Whitetail Ridge Ski Area is one of only three ski hills operated by the Army. Downhill skiers and snowboarders will find four runs equipped with a self-loading T-bar lift, and a full range of equipment is available for rent in the Chalet.

Duties

Help
  • Performs repair work on a variety of equipment including gas powered mowers, and other mechanical equipment utilized in daily operations and maintenance.
  • Performs minor engine repairs by cleaning, adjusting, and/or replacing defective parts, of components and systems including wheel cylinders, mufflers, brake shoes, carburetors, etc. Performs minor electric or gas welding tasks as required.
  • Determines requirements and orders necessary parts, tools, and other repair equipment through the Recreation Equipment Repairer.
  • Keeps accurate records of all preventive and routine maintenance and repair work accomplished. Maintains parts accountability records for all repair parts.
  • Maintains shop area cleanliness and may be required to operate maintenance equipment. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Operation is 7 days a week, schedule will be based on the needs of the activity. Subject to irregular tour of duty. Early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays required.

Qualifications

Qualifications must be clearly verifiable in your resume.

  • Knowledge of operational and repair characteristics requirements for small gasoline engine powered equipment.
  • Ability to use of a variety of hand tools and equipment required in small engine repair work.
  • Ability to read manufacturer's manuals and to determine repair parts requirements.
  • Ability to complete such entries as issue and turn-in dates, item names and stock or part numbers on issue, and turn-in forms.
Highly Preferred Criteria: All answers to Highly Preferred criteria must be visible in your resume to get credit.
  • 1 Year experience performing minor repair of small gasoline engine powered equipment.
  • 1 Year experience working with a variety of hand tools.

PCS Costs
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
FWS Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position.
  • All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee.
  • Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800.
Incentives and Bonuses
  • Incentives will not be paid.
Non-Foreign Overseas Allowances
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.

  • This is a mixed job, designed specifically for smaller NAF activities that required flexibility in employee work assignments. May be assigned to other activities based on mission requirements.
