Duties

Help
  • Serve as a Range Maintenance Worker. Performing a variety of tasks as required for target repair. Replaces silhouette targets on hardwired target devices as needed.
  • Provide quick-fix maintenance for both portable and hardwired targets and target devices during range training area and facility operational exercises.
  • Maintain on hand quantities of serviceable targets, organizational repair parts to replace those that become unserviceable during unit training.
  • Assist Maintenance Mechanic by preparing surfaces, cleaning brushes and equipment, placing, setting-up and adjusting ladders, scaffolding and/or drop cloths as directed. Carries paint and painting material to work site.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Maintenance Mechanic Worker ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common duties. I can perform maintenance and repair tasks on mechanical equipment; trouble shoot and replace parts on pop-up target mechanisms, target systems, I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORT
The incumbent is frequently required to lift and carry moderate to heavy (over 45 pounds) boxes, tools, equipment and exert moderate physical effort is operating hand foot controls of equipment. Work also requires considerable standing, stooping, bending, walking, kneeling, climbing and working in uncomfortable and tiring positions.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed inside and outside in all types of weather (e.g., heat, cold, rain, wind, etc.) and usually in a dirty, dusty and/or greasy environment. Incumbent is exposed to the possibility of broken bones, electrical shocks, burns, cuts bruises, maimed fingers and scrapes

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this position, you must meet the Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element) using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
