Summary

You will serve as an Ordnance Logistician in the Transport & Magazine Branch (M35) of the Industrial Support Division (M3) of NAVSURFWARCEN IH DIV.

This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project.

The NT-03 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-09 and GS-10.
The NT-04 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-11 and GS-12.

Duties

Help
  • You will safely and reliably perform receipt, segregation, storage, issue, inspection, inventory, and maintain accounts for AAE and inert Non AAE shipments.
  • You will utilize the Navy Ordnance Information System-Retail (OIS-R), and Serena Foreign Ordnance Inventory System (SFOIS).
  • You will evaluate and determine appropriate packing methods and materials for explosive Hazardous Material pursuant to global transportation via commercial or military; land, sea or air freight transportation.
  • You will responsible for creating, preparing, and certifying shipping documentation, such as hazardous declarations, for the movement of explosive Hazardous Material on and off the base.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals).
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to report to the duty location advertised in the announcement on a regular and recurring basis. Occasional telework options may be available.

Qualifications

For the NT-04:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-03 (GS-09/10 equivalent) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: creating, preparing, and certifying shipping documentation for the movement of explosive Hazardous Material.

For the NT-03:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-02 (GS-05-GS-08 equivalent) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: evaluating and determining appropriate packing methods and materials for land, sea, or air freight transportation.

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

For the NT-04:
Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.
OR
Successful completion of three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.
