Duties

Help
  • Provides expertise in the development of planning disciplines, priorities, and analytical approaches for the design, development, testing and implementation of SSA’s programmatic systems.
  • As an Agency expert in an assigned area, develops workplans, detailed systems analysis and design of new or existing major systems or subsystems and oversees software development, testing and implementation activities for SSA’s programmatic systems.
  • Plans, sets priorities and develops systems analysis techniques and analytical approaches in accordance with Target Architectures.
  • Serves as an agency-wide resource person in providing technical support and advice concerning SSA's programmatic systems development
  • Assumes full technical responsibility for the formulation, coordination and development of special studies, projects or research work regarding SSA’s programmatic systems development.

To qualify for the 2210 IT Specialist series, applicants must demonstrate the following competencies: must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate.

In addition, applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-12 level, or equivalent, which is in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such IT-related experience must include the following: driving the full software development cycle, including architecture, implementation and deployment of complex applications using React and Node.js frameworks within Agile methodologies.

The specialized experience is REQUIRED and must be explicitly documented/described in your resume, or you will be disqualified from further consideration.

This is a bargaining unit position, represented by AFGE, to be filled under the provisions of the SSA/AFGE Merit Promotion Plan. Additional selections may be made within 6 months of the date of the initial selection.

LOCALITY PAY: Salary will be set in accordance with locality pay provisions. Candidates currently receiving a higher locality pay than the office applied for are advised that should they be selected, they will lose entitlement to the higher locality pay.

This position is eligible for telework.

Relocation expenses will not be paid.

This is a high risk public trust position.
