Duties

Help
  • Assist with the operation of the pool, oversees the work of assigned lifeguards and assists with scheduling, and monitors compliance with facility policies. Under direction of the pool supervisor, employ safety rules for the protection of the guest.
  • Responsible for life guarding guest at aquatic facility. Rescues swimmers and administers first aid as required. Responsible for assisting in the conduct of aquatic swimming and water survival training according to tC21-21.
  • Ensures maintaining pool and area is clean and free from hazards. Provides information to swimmers regarding safety rules and procedures. Follow Standard Operating Procedures for disciplinary actions of patrons.
  • Assist in coaching or preparing the competitive and non-competitive swimming programs as required. Attend aquatics and/or safety training as directed. Issues towels and checks identification. Maintains daily logs and records as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Incumbent is required to follow environmental safeguards and wear personal protective equipment.
  • Incumbent may be assigned to irregular duties or when needed for special recreational events and related requirements.
  • Incumbent must be willing and able to work days, nights, weekends, holidays, and special events as needed.
  • Incumbent must be willing and able to endure continuous exposure to sun and prolonged periods of high temperature and humidity.
  • In case of exposure to infectious disease, incumbent is required to obtain the Hepatitis B vaccination series within a 24-hour period.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess the following certificates:

  • American Red Cross "Lifeguard" certification or nationally recognized equivalent (i.e. Ellis & Associates Lifeguard Certification).
  • American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional Rescuer" (CPR-Pro) certification or nationally recognized equivalent (i.e. Ellis & Associates (CPR) Certification).
  • American Red Cross "Automated External Defibrillator" (AED) certification or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Ellis & Associates AED certification.

PCS Costs
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest
Pay-Band (NF or CY) Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a pay-banded position.
  • Sunday premium pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. If authorized, only regular (full-time, part-time, limited tenure and seasonal) employees may be paid Sunday premium pay. When authorized, Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday). Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday).
  • Night differential may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. When authorized, night differential will be paid at the rate of 10% basic rate for hours of non-overtime work performed between 1800-0600.
