Duties

Help
  • Inspects and analyzes refrigeration equipment. Diagnoses malfunctioning electric fixtures and completes needed repairs. May install and maintain electronic and electromechanical cash registers and peripheral equipment.
  • May prepare and paint equipment, fixtures, furnishings and buildings; hang wallpaper; install and repair water, sewer and gas fixtures; and cut, bend and fit pipes and fittings. Follows instructions and existing work practices.
  • Prepares cost estimates for completion of a job. May operate a motor vehicle to transport material and personnel. Skill in the use of various hand and power tools used. Skill in the use of electrical test equipment.
  • Works independently in accordance with accepted trade practices and guides, uses judgment to perform duties and resolve most problems, subject to spot checks. Selects tools, equipment and materials for each assignment.
  • Lifts and carries items weighing over 50 pounds. Works in uncomfortable positions, and possible exposure to dirt, dust, grease, disagreeable odors. May be required to wear protective equipment. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Incumbent must be willing and able lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Incumbent must be willing and able to work exposed to dirt, dust, grease, disagreeable odors and may be required to wear protective equipment.
  • Incumbent must be willing and able to work varying shifts to include days, nights, weekends, holidays, and special events as needed.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Lift and carry ladders, scaffolds, and materials weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Possess skill in tile use of power tools used to complete projects
  • Have demonstrated ability to use electrical test equipment.
  • Possess math skills necessary to measure, fit and cost materials used.
  • Possess a valid motor vehicle operator's permit.

BEST QUALIFIED:

PCS Costs
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
FWS Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position.
  • All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee.
  • Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800.
Incentives and Bonuses
  • Incentives will not be paid.
Non-Foreign Overseas Allowances
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
