Duties

Help

You will serve as U.S. Coast Guard Academy (USCGA) Management and Program Analysis. You will be responsible for leading in the development of plans and the implementation of programs designed to best recruit and prepare multicultural students, to include women, for admission to USCGA.


 Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.  Typical work assignments include:

  • Leading in the development of plans and the implementation of programs designed to best recruit and prepare multicultural students.
  • Supervising organized outreach programs held on campus and across the nation ensuring USCGA efforts are frequent and informative.
  • Serving as the main coordinator for the Academy Minority Outreach Team (AMOT) volunteer work force in day-to-day employment.
  • Advising the Deputy Director of Admissions on the development of long-term strategic plans and policies to attract and retain the interest of multicultural students and women.
  • Conducting studies, document in research papers and deliver presentations at professional conferences on academic programs, recruitment efforts and retention rates of multicultural students. 
  • Training and educate Admissions personnel to effectively recruit underrepresented minority students.

Qualifications

Qualifications for GS-12:  At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal Service.  Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.  Examples of specialized experience include:  Knowledge and skill in applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to issues or studies related to equity task force initiatives; establishing program goals and objectives related to diversity and inclusion; and applying analytical techniques to assess climate inclusivity within a collegiate community.


National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
