Duties

Help

  • Serves as the Athletics Manager responsible for supervising, organizing, planning and executing the installation wide intramural sports program for a military community, sports programs for civilians and adult family members. 
  • Responsibilities include team sports programs and activities involving a variety recurring and non-recurring activities and special sporting events. 
  • Coordinates with other local Marine Corps installations to fulfill athletic requirements for athletes as needed. 
  • Provides recommendations to management regarding the effectiveness of ongoing sports activities based on participants' responses, resources, and program objectives.  
  • Responsible for coordinating the scheduling of courts, track, and fields, and regularly inspects for repairs, cleanliness, etc. Annually coordinates the Commander's Trophy Award Program and the Commander's Trophy Award Ceremony. 
  • Coordinates higher level competitions such as All-Marine, Armed Forces and International sporting events. 
    Conducts inventories and utilizes appropriate purchasing procedures to request new equipment. 
  • Ensures all equipment and supplies are available for all intramural programs. Responsible for preparing a variety of facilities to include gymnasium, athletic fields, stadium and other athletic venues on the base ensuring playing surface is safe and ready for play. This includes loading and transporting athletic equipment, soil and tools in large vans and light utility vehicles to prepare fields for play. Lines and grades fields as needed. 
  • Assists in the preparation of briefings, letters of instruction, standing operating procedures, special reports, management narratives, after action reports etc. Provides input and justifications relating to programs, and activities including APF/NAF funding, facilities, supplies and equipment. Coordinates the use of volunteer participants and supporting contracts such as officials and scorekeepers for all athletic programs, pre/season clinics and seminars. 
  • Ensures compliance with all internal control policies, procedures and instructions. Coordinates with Marketing Branch the advertising all tournaments, programs and special events. Solicits contract employees as wells a volunteer for various athletic sports programs. 
  • Serves as liaison between a Contractor and the Contracting Officer to aid in contract administration. Oversees contractor performance and adherence to regulations. Informs the Contracting Officer of potential performance problems. Handles routine correspondence, maintains administrative contract files, and forwards copies of correspondence and files to the Contracting Officer. Inspects and accepts products and services as appropriate. Reviews and approves invoices for payment as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Three years of work experience coordinating sports activities and a proficiency in developing a sports programs tailored to the needs of the participants. 
  • A minimum of one year supervisory with demonstrated knowledge in personnel management and administration is preferred. 
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a light utility vehicle license (LUV). 
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. 
  • This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently and objects over 45lbs with assistance. 
  • Must be able to pass a physical exam.
