As the Development Officer for Corporate and Foundation Giving you will:

  • In collaboration with the Director of Strategic Giving, the Chief Development Officer and department staff, prepares reports, proposals, prospect briefs, and other  fundraising materials.
  • Establish, organize, and implement cultivation and solicitation strategies to expand and increase the National Gallery's base of corporate and foundation donors, setting specific and overall financial goals.
  • Develop  long-and short-term goals for corporate and foundation gifts aligned with the National Gallery's strategic priorities and mission. Create and prepare high-level presentations for targeted corporations and foundations.
  • Develop strategies to cultivate and secure corporate leaders for membership opportunities.
  • Communicate the status of gift and grant deliverables promptly and effectively with corporate and foundation donors. Incumbent keeps the Director of Strategic Giving and the Chief Development Officer updated on responses and assists in the negotiation of agreements with corporate sponsors, establishing a beneficial relationship between the National Gallery and the corporation.

Qualifications

Candidates must meet the Qualification Standards Handbook requirements for the GS-1001-11.

For this position,candidates must possess at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent in responsibility to the NF-9 level in the Federal service, development, gift solicitation, and management of corporate, foundation, and foreign embassy funding relationships for a major organization’s development office.

Those applicants who meet the minimum qualification requirements will be evaluated against these factors to determine the best-qualified candidates.

  1. Ability to apply fundraising skills, strategies, and practices to cultivating prospective corporate and foundation donors.
  2. Outstanding writing and editing skills with experience and a proven track record of creating successful fundraising or business proposals, white papers, or other polished written materials.
  3. Demonstrated knowledge and experience using tools like Raiser’s Edge, PowerPoint, and other presentation design software.
  4. Familiarity with fundraising principles and practices.
  5. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
