This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Competitive Service Positions to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: Serve as a Senior Quality Assurance Specialist, and Team Lead for the Quality Assurance Team for welding supporting a variety of projects throughout Tulsa District, Southwestern Division, and occasionally on projects in other Coprs of Engineers Divisions.

Duties

Help
  • Establishes and monitors the quality control and assurance activities of fabricated structural components for conformance with engineering documents, including review of procedures and practices as they relate to welding.
  • Provides instruction as required in new techniques or processes and provides for the development of project team members.
  • Evaluates nondestructive testing procedures and recommends alteration or advances for new testing methods.
  • Leads the team in identifying, distributing, and balancing workload and tasks among team members.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must possess a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification from the American Welding Society at the time of hire.
  • ASNT Level 2 certification in at least one of the following methods: UT, RT, MT, or PT at the time of hire.
  • Obtain both ASNT Level 2 MT and UT within one year of appointment if not already in possession at time of hire.
  • Obtain Level 3 ASNT certification in at least one of the following methods: UT, RT, MT, or PT if not already in possession at time of hire.
  • Business travel/TDY is required up to 50% of the time.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes 1). monitoring the quality control of welding and engineering projects, AND 2). inspecting the equipment, nondestructive testing, and quality of the procedures that affect the end product for program development.
