Duties

Help
  • Assure stock to be shipped is properly marked or tagged with proper documentation
  • Operate various vehicles to carry loads to and from storage areas
  • Determine if stock should be stocked or issued immediately
  • Notify organization when stock is ready for issue to coordinate quantities requiring special handling equipment and transportation
  • Maintain operating stock level of items for activity through control of receipt, issue, storage, transfer, shipping and replenishment of supplies

  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.

  • The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs.
  • This position requires a NACI/Tier 1 background investigation.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a two year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 70 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • This position requires you to obtain a forklift operators permit within three months of employment.

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.



Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Materials Handler (MVO/FLO) without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform common processing of materials shipments; operate a vehicle or forklift to carry loads work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Ability To Do The Work Of The position Without More Than Normal Supervision
  • Work is performed on hard surfaces and in areas that require standing, stooping, bending and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. May be required to work at a rapid pace for long periods of time. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 70 pounds and may occasionally handle items that weigh over 70 pounds.
  • Works inside and outside in areas that are hot, cold, damp, drafty, and/or poorly lighted. May work in bad weather in outside areas. Is subject to dirt, dust, and grease and is frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes and bruises; falls from ladders; or injuries from materials handling equipment.
