Duties

As an Accounting Technician GS-0525-6/7, your typical work assignments may include the following:

  • Serves as technical oversight of primary cashier and is responsible for the disbursement of all student funds received by the university.
  • Executes oversight by reviewing accounts payable documents to verify accounting date and transaction coding for input along with any other necessary information to enter into the BIE Accounting System, Financial and Business Management System (FBMS) for processing payments to vendors.
  • Maintains computerized ledgers on all transactions that are subject to audit at any time.
  • Maintaining the Budget Monitoring File on a daily basis for all divisions by assigning a Purchase Requisition Number, logging data into Monitoring File to determine amount requested is within budget to include pending and actual amounts.
  • Assists in data collection and statistical reports of various program activities as required by the Division of Finance.
  • Assists in performing research to verify the accuracy of grant accounts.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the qualification requirements contained in the OPM Standards. For this position, they are listed below.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.

GS-6: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 level in the Federal service that includes: Performing duties involving the receipt, examination, and deposit of cash funds; maintaining computerized ledgers on transactions that are subject to audit at any time; assisting in data collection and statistical reports of various program activities.

GS-7: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-6 level in the Federal service that includes: Performing duties involving the receipt, examination, and deposit of cash funds; maintaining computerized ledgers on transactions that are subject to audit at any time; assisting in data collection and statistical reports of various program activities; providing guidance for system collection/billing entries and maintenance; preparing reports and records as required by supervisor, funding agencies, and auditors.

Only experience and education obtained by the closing date of this announcement will be considered.
