Come be a part of an agency where you have the opportunity to contribute to the assisting of financing the export of U.S. goods and services to international markets. EXIM is seeking students in various administrative and junior professional positions under the Pathway's Internship Program. The program is designed to integrate the student's educational studies with a wide range of clerical, administrative, and professional experiences that support the mission of EXIM. Whether you have a passion for acquiring or enhancing your administrative skills, or working in a more technical area such as loan specialist or business development, EXIM has an internship for you.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

Office of Administrative Services Division:

  • Acquisition Planning and Market Research- Learn through compiling information from various documents that are a part of the overall Acquisition Planning and Market Research process.
  • Work products and work processes must demonstrate a professional grasp and application in: MS Word, MS Excel (pivot tables and charts), MS PowerPoint, PlainLanguage.gov and 508 compliance concepts and benefits, work/process flows, and other.
  • Analytical, logical thinking, solutions oriented, with an ability to investigate and present more than one alternative is a must.
Office of Board Authorized Finance:

The Asset Management Division manages EXIM Bank's portfolio after origination. The portfolio includes precedent setting international and domestic loans. The intern would assist the Asset Management Division in loan management activities. They may work on distressed as well as performing loans.

Office of Small Business (Outreach and Education):
  • Assist with planning digital marketing activities such social media and email campaigns to extend EXIM's brand awareness by making EXIM products and services more widely known. Assist with securing speaking engagements for Regional Directors; responsibilities include arranging logistics, gathering slides from presenters, creating registration pages, conducting research on associations or organizations for joint presentation opportunities, and other tasks as assigned.

Office of Information Management and Technology:

  • Intern will produce a required, all-hands training video on records management. Intern will write scripts, select visual content, assign and organize speaking roles, and produce and edit the video using Clipchamp.
  • Intern will also assist in creation of the knowledge assessment that will accompany the training video.

Office of the Chief Management Officer:

  • Assists the Program manager and project managers in verifying applicable standard policies and procedures, and availability of funds. Assists in continuing review and studies of incoming project planning, execution, and related material and program activities. Furnishes and obtains information regarding planning, funding, progress reports, direction, and execution of projects.
Office of Policy, Analysis and International Relations:
  • Conducting open-source research to help create a Chinese export credit database; ability to carry out research in both English and Chinese is highly preferred.
  • Analyzing Chinese initiatives (e.g. One Belt, One Road and Made in China 2025) and their potential implications for EXIM Bank and U.S. exporters
  • Presenting research findings to OPAIR staff.
Office of Global Business Development:
  • Participates with senior personnel in conducting non-routine projects. Studies Bank requirements for the projects and research and studies the current body of precedents and technical knowledge. Receives specific information and explanations on projects, e.g., specifications and basic steps and tasks to be performed.
Office of the President and Chair:
  • Provides assistance in planning, monitoring, and conducting special studies, projects, and initiatives. Assists senior personnel in determining the validity, feasibility, achievability, and efficiency of special studies, projects, and initiatives, and participates in planning the studies, projects, and initiatives.
Office of Small Business (Business Credit Division):
  • Performs a broad range of clerical/administrative duties including filing, answering routine customer questions, compiling data, preparing or making changes to documents and/or forms, conducting basic research, checking documents for errors, verifying discrepancies with appropriate individual(s), entering data into automated systems, preparing/formatting charts/graphs/reports, monitoring/updating status and assisting higher level employees in support of various administrative programs.

Qualifications

Eligibility Requirements:


To apply for a Pathways Internship position, candidates must be:

  • A U.S. Citizen
  • Currently enrolled, on at least a half-time basis, in an accredited college/university (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate.
  • In good academic standing, maintaining a G.P.A of 2.5 or higher
  • If you are graduating at the end of the semester, you are not eligible for the position.
Work Schedule Requirements:
  • You must be able to work at least 24 hours per week during the academic year and full-time (40 hours per week) during the summer.
  • This position is eligible for remote and/or hybrid work schedule during the school year.
  • This position is required to work a hybrid work schedule during the summer, reporting to the office 2 days a week.
If selected, you:
  • must sign a Pathways Internship Program Participant Agreement;
  • must maintain status as a current student;
  • must maintain good academic standing, at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 grading scale.
  • must furnish course registration information at the start of each school term (if extended); and
  • must provide verification of academic status (transcript) at the end of each academic term (if extended).

To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must meet the education requirements for each grade which you are requesting consideration for:

  • GS-04: Completion of 60 semester hours or more of post high school study leading towards a qualifying degree (i.e. associate's, bachelor's, master's, etc.)
  • GS-05: Completion of 120 semester hours or more of post high school study leading towards a qualifying degree (i.e. associate's, bachelor's, master's, etc.)
****NOTE: One year of full-time undergraduate study is defined as 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours*****

Students in an accredited post-secondary school must provide a copy of their transcripts which shows the list of courses with credit hours, major(s), and grade point average or class ranking. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable to be considered, but official transcripts are required prior to appointment.

An extension may be possible without further competition when the student remains eligible for the program. The appointment may also end early due to lack of work or funds.

Upon successful completion of the Pathways Internship, candidates MAY BE converted to term or career appointment, without further competition. Candidates may be converted to the grade at which they qualify. Conversion to a term or career position is not guaranteed and is subject to many factors such as funding and position availability.
