Duties

Help
  • Performs studies of issues arising in all phases of the system life cycle. Advises high-level managers of the advantages and disadvantages of different approaches.
  • Develops and coordinates study plans and establishes priorities. Responsible for data collection, organization, and analyses.
  • Serves as a team leader responsible for complete projects that are important segments of much larger overall efforts.
  • Plans, directs, and conducts cost and schedule risk analyses to ensure integration processes are identified.
  • Selects equations or algorithms relevant to real-world environments.
  • This is an Army Acquisition, Logistics and Technology Workforce position. Selectee must meet position requirements for Practitioner certification within 60 months as of entrance on duty.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education AND specialized experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Operations Research Analyst 1515:

Bachelor's Degree (or higher degree) in operations research; or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus. In addition to meeting the Basic Requirements above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of specialized experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as performing duties that include: 1.) Performing studies of issues arising in all phases of a system life-cycle. 2.) Using operation and research methods to review/analyzes in order to propose problem-solving techniques for technology, schedule and risk. 3.) Planning, directing, and conducting cost and schedule risk analyses to ensure integration processes are identified. And 4) Review and staffing of Acquisition Milestone Documents for all programs to include multiple acquisition pathways and phases. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade level/equivalent to the NH-03 or GS-13 grade level in the Federal Service.

CONTROL POINT This position is subject to a salary control point at the GS-14, step 10 base salary. Salary for the position will be set within a range from $127,073 to $165,197 with locality. If the incumbent's salary currently exceeds this level, the salary will be at the incumbent's existing salary.
