Duties

Help
  • At full performance level, incumbent shall:
  • Participate in fiscal functions involving the formulation and execution of indirect and direct budgets, assessment of resources, and maintenance and control of multiple accounts.
  • Apply practical knowledge of budget formulation, justification and execution to assist in the development of annual, mid-year, and out-year indirect and direct budgets.
  • Prepare and/or review all funding documents (e.g., purchase requests, contracts, work orders, travel orders and vouchers, and credit card invoices) from government purchase card for appropriate cost code and other pertinent information.
  • Establish internal administrative procedures to improve operational efficiencies and timeliness of services.
  • Perform a variety of administrative tasks to support the Chief and staff. Facilitates work processes between branch administrative support positions.
  • Use a personal computer, printer and peripherals to perform recurring and nonstandard office automation duties.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. GS-05 Qualifications:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing office support services such as: using computer programs to store and retrieve data, entering time and attendance for employees, purchasing of supplies and equipment, verifying invoices prior to payment, and/or following office management policies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

OR

Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.

GS-06 Qualifications:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes using computer software (ex. Microsoft Office Suite) to review and create documents, extract data to create reports, and track budgetary obligations and expenditures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

OR

Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration, Public Administration, or in a relation Administrative Science or Administrative Studies field.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.

GS-07 Qualifications:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes formulating and executing indirect and direct budgets, assessing resources, and maintaining and controlling multiple accounts. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

OR

Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration, Public Administration, or in a relation Administrative Science or Administrative Studies field.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Selective Placement Factor: Requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.

(3) Incumbent meets all regulatory requirements for promotion including time-in-grade;
(4) Higher-level work continues to exist at the target (or next) grade level; and
(5) Supervisor recommends the promotion.
