Help

As a HR Assistant (OA) GS-0203-7/8, your typical work assignments may include:

  • Experience assisting with New Employee Orientation and onboarding forms.
  • Processing a variety of personnel actions to include, but are not limited to appointments, transfers, terminations, promotions, etc., and;
  • Experience performing a variety of administrative duties to include responding to employees on general HR related topics such as leave, pay, eOPF, and other related HR matters.
  • Experience providing guidance to employees to include conducting New Employee Orientation for new hires and responding to HR related inquiries from individuals internal and external to the agency.
  • Processing a variety of personnel actions to include, but are not limited to appointments, transfers, terminations, promotions, etc., and;
  • Experience applying rules, laws, guidelines to perform a variety of administrative duties.

IDEAL CANDIDATE STATEMENT


The Ideal Candidate works as a team member, leverages interpersonal skills; and has excellent customer service skills. The candidate is dependable and reliable in completing assigned tasks, proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.,) and can learn various software programs and has attention to detail. The candidate is knowledgeable in HR laws, regulations, regulations, and authorities to support personnel processing. Must be able to type at least 40 WPM.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

GS-07
Applicant must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the GS-07, Human Resources Assistant (OA), and that is typically related to the work of the position to be filled.

Specialized experience includes:

  • Experience assisting with New Employee Orientation and onboarding forms.
  • Processing a variety of personnel actions to include, but are not limited to appointments, transfers, terminations, promotions, etc., and;
  • Experience performing a variety of administrative duties to include responding to employees on general HR related topics such as leave, pay, eOPF, and other related HR matters.

TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS

GS-07 -
Applicants must meet time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year of experience at the GS-06 grade level or equivalent grade level of federal service is required to qualify for the GS-07 grade level.

GS-08 - Applicants must meet time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year of experience at the GS-07 grade level or equivalent grade level of federal service is required to qualify for the GS-08 grade level.

*NOTE* All current or former Federal employees must provide a copy of their SF-50 "Notice of Personnel Action" that indicates proof of status and time-in-grade eligibility. The SF-50 must include your position, title, series, grade, step, tenure, and type of service (Competitive).
