Help

  • As deputy to the director/commander, plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of the Force Support Squadron (FSS).
  • Exercise supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Directs, coordinates, and oversees work through subordinate supervisors.
  • Make comprehensive assessments and evaluations of program goals/objectives which provide a basis for long-range planning to enhance the management support capabilities of the FSS.
  • Represent the Force Support Squadron with a variety of installation organizations and outside agencies.

  • This is a Supervisory Position in which a supervisory probation period may be required.
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • Employee may be required to work extended or other than normal duty hours to include evenings and weekends and may be subject to recall.
  • This position has been designated as a Key Career Position (KCP). the assignment will not be continuing and has an established tour limitation of 36-60 months as determined by the Career Field Team and Career Field Manager. (cont.)
  • Employees must sign a Memorandum of Understanding including Selection, Restriction, Outplacement, Tour and Mobility Agreement as a condition of employment. (cont.)
  • This addendum is effective 1 March 2014 and will be utilized upon incumbent's exit from the position and from that point forward whenever the position is filled.
  • IAW DoDI 3020-42 this position has been locally or command designated as Mission Essential (ME); needed to ensure the continued operation of mission essential functions of the activity. (cont.)
  • Mission Essential personnel may be required to report for duty at normal times when the base is closed or delayed reporting, and remain on duty during phased or early release.
  • The duties of this position meet all requirements as a category 4 designation, (cont.)
  • and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the parent Federal Agency or office to function effectively. (Cont.)
  • This position must be removed from the Ready Reserve and CAN NOT become a member of the Ready Reserve (IAW: DoDD 1200.7, "Screening the Ready Reserve).
  • The work may require the incumbent to obtain and maintain a Secret Security clearance
  • TRAVEL AND RELOCATION EXPENSES WILL BE PAID in accordance with the JTR AND AFMAN 36-606

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-13, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes: (1) providing supervisory management oversight for day-to-day activities of community services, child & youth services and resource management flights; (2) serving as strategic advisor to commanders on issues involving military & civilian personnel, manpower and services; (3) directing short and long range programs addressing a broad range of Air Force community needs and interests; (4) managing the force development program, identifying and providing training and opportunities for growth; (5) providing complex administrative and technical services that directly affect a large or complex, multi-mission military installation.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-13 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-14 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

  1. Knowledge of a wide range of manpower concepts, principles, operations, laws, regulations, programs, and practices; knowledge of a wide range of personnel (civilian and military) concepts, principles, operations, laws, regulations, programs, and practices; knowledge of a wide range of Services concepts, principles, operations, laws, regulations, programs, and practices; and practical knowledge of education, readiness, and budget execution concepts, principles, operations, and practices.
  2. Extensive knowledge of the mission, roles, functions, organizational structure, management, and operation of large organizations to provide high level staff guidance and participate in the development of goals, objectives, and policies.
  3. Knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures related to developing, planning, budgeting, and coordinating activities, programs, facility programming, contracting, and customer interests and needs.
  4. Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, Military Equal Opportunity (MEO) and EEO regulations, practices, and procedures.
  5. Skill in managing the work operations of multiple organizational segments to meet program requirements, goals, and objectives within available resources.
  6. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization directly and through subordinate supervisors.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
