Duties

Help

Performs technical support work in one or more personnel specialties such as benefits, employee relations, staffing/recruitment, wage/classification, position management.  Typical assignment(s) may include:  (1) providing information on and processing benefits, (2) conducting new employee orientation and exit interviews, (4) gathering facts involving routine HR work in the above specialty areas, (5) initiating suitability adjudications.  May assist in writing, revising, updating, and preparing personnel procedures and directives, special reports and correspondence.

Provides information to employees on Group Health, Dental & Life Insurance, 401(K) Savings Plan, Group Retirement Plan, Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Leave Donations, and Employee Performance and Length of Service Awards Program.  Maintains a high degree of contact with employees and provides advice and assistance to employees regarding employee benefit problems and issues.  Conducts research and identifies and explains benefit related issues. Conducts orientation classes and briefings. Reviews related rules, regulations, and internal instructions for comments. Explains rules and regulations to employees pertaining to assigned functions.

Uses statistical methods to collect, compile and present numerical personnel data.  Using general knowledge of the personnel specialty areas determines: how to best obtain required data, how errors could arise in reporting and gathering data, when bias in information exists, whether coverage is adequate, and what trends exist.  Assembles and compiles statistical reports dealing with manpower utilization, status of work projects, cost of operations and similar information.  May report on unit costs, man hours expended for production, indirect labor costs, number of employees in designated work groups, etc.  May post information from PeopleSoft report formats to various documentation.  Recognizes significant changes from past reports.  Checks changes with sources of information to verify accuracy of data.  Performs arithmetic computations of data such as computing percentages, averages, ratios, determines means, modes, medians and weighted averages.  Presents information in simple bar charts, graphs, charts.  May present statistical information in briefs. 

Performs other related duties as assigned. This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs may be required.

Qualifications

Must have at least three years of experience working in a Human Resource Office OR must possess practical knowledge and skills in personnel procedures, rules, and regulations.  Must possess excellent customer service and computer skills.  Must be able to work in fast pace, demanding work environment.  Ability to manage multiple tasks, and the flexibility to adapt with changing requirements.  Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.  

Must successfully obtain and maintain a favorable background investigation at the Tier III level.

Eligible for incremental telework as determined by MR/MF policy.
