Help
  • Perform analysis of sub-assemblies, assemblies and components used in electronic systems of guided missiles.
  • Perform repair and overhaul on standard electronic systems and highly complex subsystems.
  • Perform final alignment of sub-assemblies, assemblies and components used in electronic systems of ground equipment.
  • Test faulty equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test equipment.
  • Use technical manuals to troubleshoot electronic equipment.
  • Operate specialized or standard test equipment to diagnose the performance of electronic components.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Must be willing to travel (TDY) up to 5% of the time.
  • Must be willing to accept a term position.
  • Must be willing to complete a one year trial period.

Qualifications

This is a term position not to exceed 13 months. Term positions may be extended up to a maximum of 6 years, and MAY NOT be converted to permanent.

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) ELECTRONICS MECHANIC ~ without more than normal supervision. Have the ability to perform common duties in the repairing and troubleshooting of electronic systems used in guided missiles. Perform tests on assemblies and components of missile systems. Work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORT

Work involves standing, bending, stooping, and protracted periods at test consoles. Continuously handles objects weighing up to 40 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Normally works in well lighted, heated and ventilated shop area. Subject to cuts, bruises, burns, and shock caused by handling equipment, soldering irons, high voltage energy, radiation, etc.
