Help

As the Managing Director, Communications you will:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy to enhance the Development Finance Corporation's (DFC) reputation and impact, including brand management, media relations, and public affairs.
  • Serve as a key spokesperson for DFC and develop relationships with media outlets, journalists, and other influencers to promote the organization's mission and initiatives.
  • Manage a team of communications professionals responsible for executing DFC's communications strategy, including content creation, media outreach, and social media management.
  • Work collaboratively with DFC's and the Office of External Affair's leadership team to align communications efforts with the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of crisis communications plans to ensure DFC is prepared to respond effectively to any reputational risks.
  • Provide strategic communications counsel to senior leaders, including the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Deputy CEO.
  • Monitor and analyze industry trends and provide insights to inform the DFC's communications strategy.
  • Manage DFC's digital presence, including its website and social media channels, to ensure that they reflect the organization's mission and priorities.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-15 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirements:

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service that demonstrates your ability to:
1) Provide strategic communications counsel to senior leaders.
2) Develop and implement internal and external communication strategies for an organization.
3) Manage and supervise a communications staff and oversee program execution.
4) Operate in crisis situations and provide effective media response/engagement for an organization.
5) Serve as a spokesperson for an organization and develop relationships with media outlets.


Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
