Duties

Help
  • Serves as the Deployment Specialist in the 95th Civil Affairs Brigade (Airborne), a Component Support Unit (CSU) of 1st Special Forces Command (Airborne) (1st SFC (A)).
  • Provides technical oversight/systems support.
  • Coordinates movement of personnel, equipment and materiel to deployed sites.
  • Compiles, analyzes and maintains deployment data using automated equipment.
  • Prepares and conducts briefings.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This is an Emergency Essential I Civilian (EEC) position and will require incumbent to deploy occasionally to deployment base camps. Incumbent may be required to deploy to potentially high-threat OCONUS environments in which hostile action may occur.
  • Incumbent may also be required to perform duties under austere conditions during exercise and real-world crisis deployment. Requires frequent extended duty with long hours under high pressure and generally high-risk job responsibilities.
  • The military ACU is the duty uniform when deployed, or in field environment. Incumbent will be issued standard TA50 for use per local requirements.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • May require travel, CONUS and OCONUS, on very short notice up to 25% of the time.
  • Must successfully pass a urinalysis screening prior to the appointment and periodically thereafter.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience in 1). Experience in deployment and redeployment of forces during exercises, contingency operations and general wartime; 2). Compile, analyze, and maintain deployment data using systems intrinsic to military deployments; 3). Interpret the regulations, policies and procedures pertinent to Department of Defense and Army structure; AND 4) .Experience and familiarity with transportation requirements to resolve complex problems related to deployments. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).

  • Term Appointment NTE - Position may be filled as a term appointment NTE 3 years. Term appointments may be extended beyond six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. With DoD approval, term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years.
  • Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a term appointment will be appointed/converted into a term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position.
