Duties

Help
  • Monitor compliance with current and draft policies to prevent any hinderance to operational capabilities.
  • Develop space systems that meet the unique requirements of special operations missions
  • Coordinate integration efforts with Department of Defense and Intelligence Community agencies to ensure seamless space capability deployment
  • Lead the integration of specialized space-based intelligence across the special operations enterprise.
  • Oversee moderations projects for global communication systems to enhance mission-specific support capabilities.
  • Design global space architecture to provide reliable connectivity for special operations missions.
  • Advise on technology selection for space related equipment to ensure compatibility with current architectures.
  • Participate in policy discussions to advocate for command-specific space capabilities within the Department of Defense and Intelligence Community.
  • Evaluate system performance to confirm operational effectiveness and alignment with mission requirements.
  • Translate operational requirements into space system design specifications to assess vendor proposals for suitability.
  • Maintain a technical library of space systems and equipment to support informed decision-making.
  • Conduct cost/benefit analyses of military and industry space solutions to provide recommendations for senior leadership.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top-Secret security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information SCI access for the duration of employment.
  • IAW change 3 to AR-600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, this position is subject to a pre-employment urinalysis screening, and random testing thereafter.
  • This position may require Temporary Duty (TDY) travel 25% or less at various CONUS and OCONUS locations. This may require travel on military aircraft, ships and vehicles.
  • The employee may be required to work uncommon tours of duty hours, working either fixed or rotating shift which may include evenings, weekends and/or holidays
  • The incumbent may be subjected to short notice recall.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as:Advising on space mission areas by providing technical input and recommendations, Coordinating with various agencies to facilitate the integration of space capabilities, Evaluating space technology systems to support development and modernization efforts and conducting cost/benefit analyses by evaluating commercial proposals for alignment with mission requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).

Additional information
