Veterans' preference rules for category rating will be applied.
The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position are as follows:
- Knowledge of and experience with principles and practices of modern research methods including synthesizing geological, geophysical, engineering geology, meteorological, hydrological, and topographic information to understand landslides hazards. Describe your experience and role in conducting these types of studies including the research methods applied, novel approaches developed, and your record of reports, presentations, and publications that disseminate research results. Please also describe evidence of your service within the geology/engineering geology community.
- Ability to develop, adapt, and apply empirical, statistical, physical, geomechanical, and/or hydrological models to quantify landslide susceptibility and understand future landslide failure location, mode, geometry, timing, and mobility. Please describe your experience and role in basic and applied research studies in modeling landslide processes and list significant publications and presentations associated with this work. Clarify your particular role in any multi-person investigation or study.
- Knowledge of modern monitoring techniques and remote sensing techniques including kinematic, topographic, and geophysical monitoring tools, and In SAR, image processing, lidar analysis, and hyperspectral methods to resolve problems in landslide hazard assessment. Describe your experiences in active landslide monitoring and remote sensing to help resolve questions about landslide process. List your significant publications associated with this work and clarify your particular role in any multi-person investigation or study.
- Knowledge of geology, geomorphology, hydrology, and rock and soil mechanics to map, describe, and interpret landslide features and assess potential hazards. Please describe previous landslide field or remote investigations performed, your role, and duties performed, with emphasis on landslide hazard assessment.
