Duties

Help
  • You will require a solid background in new media or social media strategy, implementation and measurement.
  • You will promote brand awareness of the University through the creation and implementation of a new media and social media strategy.
  • You will actively participate in a wide variety of social media activities and will be well connected with the broader social media world.
  • You will monitor, listen, and manage daily posts/tweets to all applicable social media outlets.
  • You will coordinate with other members of the External Affairs team to ensure a consistency in voice and to cultivate a comprehensive social media network.
  • You will expand the University’s social media presence, build the University’s reputation and increase its national and international visibility.
  • You will develop a social media strategy that includes quantifiable goals as well as the development of benchmarks and tools of measurement for evaluating how well the strategy is meeting those goals.
  • You will participate on a daily basis in a wide variety of social media activities to engage the various constituencies of the University with the objective of achieving the goals of the social media strategy.
  • You will work with other University centers/programs to communicate the goals of the University’s social media strategy.
  • You will assist those centers/programs in integrating any social media that they are using into the University’s overall social media strategy.
  • You will write and present decision/information papers and briefings to USU leaders as directed.
  • You will develop and provide social media training to installation leadership and unit PA representatives.
  • You will possess a comprehensive understanding of how social media integrates with other existing University communications vehicles (e.g., magazine, PR, website), and writes content that can be repurposed for these vehicles.

Qualifications

GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Develop social media content to implement communication strategies conveying an organization's programs or services.

GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Develop and analyze material for social media content for conveying an organization's services.

Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

For the GS-11:
Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
OR
Successful completion of 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
OR
Possession of an LL.M., if related
OR
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.

For the GS-09:
Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree.
OR
Successful completion of 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree.
OR
Possession of an LL.B. or J.D., if related.
OR
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
