Evaluates and assesses the functionality, capability, and trustworthiness of AI models in
compliance with EO 14110. Designs and implements structured and scientifically sound
evaluations of AI systems. Evaluates models' existing safeguards in order to evaluate the
effectiveness of those safeguards. Carries out red-team operations on AI systems using realworld
adversarial tactics and techniques to identify failures, vulnerabilities, and potential
misuses. Refines and develops new red-teaming and safety-and-security evaluation software,
products, workflows, and tools. Continuously adapts and improves techniques of red-teaming
and evaluation, including to improve their efficiency and scalability. Collaborates with team
members and across teams to develop innovative solutions to AI safety problems.
Communicates complex AI concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Informs the
development of technical guidelines and best practices for AI safety.

Basic Requirements:Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate.For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. Specialized experience is defined as experience demonstrating technical understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI) generative models and Machine Learning (ML) algorithms; carrying out technical evaluations to identify safety issues and security vulnerabilities; and collaborating and coordinating on AI-related projects.
ZP-2210-V: In addition to the above requirements, applicants must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level (ZP-IV at NIST). Establishes best practices with specific technical standards and workflows.
