  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain NC Asbestos state accreditation certification.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Misc Structural & Finishing Worker ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the knowledge and ability to perform common duties performing mold and asbestos removal and cleanup; encapsulating, cleaning-up, transporting, disposing, and sorting asbestos containing materials; and utilizing proper methods and procedures to prevent cross-contamination issues. Use a variety of mold cleaning methods and accompanying tools including: wet vacuum, steam cleaning, damp-wide surfaces with cleaning agents as well as completing trip reports. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work requires extensive physical exertion, involves prolonged standing, occasional crawling, bending, stooping and reaching. Incumbent must occasionally work in cramped and awkward positions. Continuous movement of hands and arms is required during fitting and installation of materials. Work also includes moving up and down ladders, and frequent lifting, carrying or otherwise handling tools and materials weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally over 50 pounds.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS: Works outside and inside on concrete floors, ceilings, boiler rooms, HVAC duct systems, tanks, and inside boilers subject to relatively high temperatures. Is exposed to gas, smoke, ash, dust, dirt and grease, and low temperatures. Work son roof tops up to six stories high and outside under extreme weather conditions such as hot or cold temperatures. Subject to injuries from falls, dropping moderately heavy items, use of hand tools and in crawl spaces. Work is frequently subject to possible scalding water and contact with heated parts of the system; possible respiratory disorders due to inhalation of asbestos fibers.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this position, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
