Help
  • Interpret established and pertinent regulations, organizational policies, management principles, and administrative rules to provide hands on support and provide guidance to program staff.
  • Assist the supervisor in ensuring effective administrative operations for the unit.
  • Monitor approaching deadline dates to keep supervisor and/or subordinate staff on time to meet deadlines.
  • Maintain continuity of programmatic communication, decisions regarding disaster response efforts, disaster response staffing, background information and records.
  • Coordinate employee badging for PIVs and account access.
  • Provide general guidance and answers to inquiries concerning the application of administrative regulations, legislative acts and policies received from Regional and/or Washington Office to ensure compliance with unit priorities.

  • This position is remote eligible. You will be required to sign a remote work agreement and be responsible for ensuring the approved remote worksite has adequate internet service, connectivity, and other general utility costs at your own expense.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary and a trial period.

Specialized Experience Requirement:

For the GS-09: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as four or more of the following: experience providing operational administrative support to a complex, internationally focused program or disaster response teams with an emphasis on travel coordination, and badging systems; and/or independently prepare, review and edit drafts of written correspondence, presentations, reports and similar products; and/or review and analyze procedures to improve administrative effectiveness; and/or review and become familiar with pertinent agency regulations, policies, and procedures; and/or review and recommend changes to operational procedures and provided technical assistance to employees on administrative matters.

OR

A master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., in a course of study such as Master of Science in Administration, Master of Public Service/Policy;

OR

An appropriate combination of specialized experience and education (only graduate education in excess of 18 semester hours may be used to qualify applicants for this grade level).

The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.

This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

Additional information

Career Transition Assistance Plan (CTAP) or Reemployment Priority List (RPL): To exercise selection priority for this vacancy, CTAP/RPL candidates must meet the basic eligibility requirements and all selective factors. CTAP candidates must be rated and determined to be well qualified (or above) based on an evaluation of the competencies listed in the How You Will Be Evaluated section. When assessed through a score-based category rating method, CTAP applicants must receive a rating of at least 85 out of a possible 100.

This is a temporary promotion not-to-exceed 13 months and may be extended without further competition or may end earlier due to lack of work or funds, or at the discretion of the Hiring Manager.

This temporary promotion may be made permanent without further competition. If the temporary promotion is not made permanent, you will be returned to your permanent position of record with any increases that would have been received if not temporarily assigned. If it is not possible to be returned to the prior position, you should be placed in another position in your agency for which qualified, at the same grade and geographic location as before. Should this not occur, reduction-in-force procedures may be necessary. If you are selected, we will work with you and your supervisor on an agreement covering return rights so every effort will be made to return you to a properly classified position for which qualified and at the same grade level.

This position is remote eligible. Remote work employees are expected to work at an approved remote worksite, typically the employee's residence, on a regular and continuing basis.
