Duties

Help
  • Provides direct, on site management and administration of facilities and evaluates established programs and administrative procedures.
  • Participates in marketing activities designed to educate the public about the mission of Fisher Houses and the benefits they provide to families of active duty military members, retirees, and veterans.
  • Develop, establish, and implement operational policies related to eligibility, admission, length of stay, behavior standards for guests, cleanliness and state of repair of the facilities.
  • Recruit, manage and train volunteers to support the day-to-day operations of the Fisher House as outlined in the volunteer program.
  • Conducts informal guest satisfaction surveys and works with the Fisher House Program Manager to improve service. Participates in the development, execution, review and analysis of the Fisher House Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) Budget.

  • Appointment is subject to the completion of a favorable suitability determination.

Qualifications

Qualifications for the position:

  • Two years of work experience, either paid or volunteer, that has provided the demonstrated knowledge in the following areas to successfully manage a Fisher House: facility operations and maintenance; financial management; supervision of housekeeping and other maintenance staff; recruitment, training, and scheduling of volunteers; guest relations; and marketing.
  • A four year hospitality, business or marketing related degree or certification as CLM (Certified Lodging Manager) may be substituted for one year of work experience.
HIGHLY PREFERRED:
Work or volunteer experience at a Ronald McDonald House or other Fisher House operations. Marketing experience building community relations, website development/maintenance, social media networking and virtual presence. Non-Profit volunteer or work experience with any organization.

Education

  • The Area of Consideration for this vacancy announcement is defined as Tripler HI (Honolulu) and surrounding area within 50-mile radius; in addition to, you are considered eligible if one of the following applies: 1) you live outside of this area and are able to commute to work on a daily/as needed basis, 2) you are able to relocate yourself on your own expenses.

Salary Information:
Salary is pro-rated based on a 40 hour work week.
Hourly rate/ salary is:
NF-04 $32.50ph to $37.50ph ($67,828.00 to $78,263.00 Per Year)

PCS Costs
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
Pay-Band (NF ) Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a pay-banded position.
  • Sunday premium pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. If authorized, only regular (full-time, part-time, limited tenure and seasonal) employees may be paid Sunday premium pay. When authorized, Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday). Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday).
  • Night differential may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. When authorized, night differential will be paid at the rate of 10% basic rate for hours of non-overtime work performed between 1800-0600.

U.S. Army Medical Command

Army Fisher Houses (AFHs) are temporary lodging facilities that are built and donated to the Army by the Fisher House Foundation (FHF). The AFHP consists of 17 homes at 11 Army installations across the globe supporting the respective Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) campuses with 172 resident guest suites.

AFH is owned, operated, and maintained by the Department of the U.S. Army. The U.S. AFH Fund is a Non-Appropriated Instrumentality (NAFI) supplemental mission at Headquarters, U.S. Army Medical Command (MEDCOM) Fort Sam Houston, TX. The U.S. AFH NAFI is the Army's single fund administering the operation, maintenance, and improvement of all AFHs.

AFHs offer a home away from home at no cost for families of patients receiving medical care at an MTF. With comfortable accommodations that allow Military & Veteran families to from all branches of service to focus on the medical care and recovery of their loved ones. The houses are well stocked with community kitchens and inviting common areas. Guests are warmly welcomed by caring and compassionate staff members who offer encouragement and provide families with information about resources and services available to help meet their needs.
