Duties

Help

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Supports the Assistant Director in formulating and directing the development, interpretation, and promulgation of strategies, policies, standards, practices, systems, and controls governing all aspects of EOIR' s Budget; Finance; and Appropriations; Procurement Services; Human Resources; Logistics and/or Administrative Resource Center (ARC); Security Operations; Space and Facilities.
  • Coordinates with Division Chiefs the formulation, oversight, and implementation of EOIR wide policies.
  • Plans and initiates a comprehensive evaluation system for the review and analysis of proposed costs, program development, and performance measures.
  • Drafts guidance and direction regarding program management and reporting.
  • Develops plans, tasks, milestone dates and schedules to ensure proper sequencing of events and tracking of processes and costs throughout the life cycle of the programs/projects.
  • Establishes program objectives and units of measure for determining when objectives have been met.
  • Acts as a key advisor and technical consultant to customers in matters pertaining to functions within the Office of Administration.
  • Plans the work to be accomplished by staff.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for the Deputy Assistant Director position, you must meet the following time in grade requirements and minimum qualifications:

TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-14 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-15 level. (Please submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. If your eligibility for both merit promotion and/or time-in-grade cannot be determined, your application will be rated ineligible. Please see Required Documents for additional information).

AND

FOR THE GS-15 LEVEL:

Specialized Experience:
Applicants must have at least one or more full-time years (12-months) of specialized work experience, equivalent to at least the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service, performing the following duties:

  • Formulating strategies, policies and controls governing all aspects of budget, financial management; human resources, and contracts and procurement programs and operations;
  • Developing systems, procedures and processes for conducting assessments of Division operations and conformance with established goals, policy, standards and controls for all programs and operations; AND
  • Establishing performance standards and evaluating performance of supervisors and providing second level review of staff performance.
