Summary

Support the Military's Quality of Life programs! The Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) department of Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) provides fitness, recreation, lodging and food and beverage programs for service members, their families, retired military and civilian employees. This position is assigned to the Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) Fitness, Sports, and Deployed Support Branch; Fleet Readiness; Commander, Navy Installations command (CNIC); Naval Base Kitsap.

Duties

Help

  • Conducts American Red Cross, Learn to Swim Program
  • Conducts swim qualification tests for patrons and issues certificates of completion
  • Responsible to instruct aquatic activities such as Water Safety Instructor, Lifeguard Instructor and Water Aerobics Instructor
  • Assists in the preparation of materials and providing patrons of information on those programs
  • Must remain alert and observe swimming area to ensure all water safety rules is observed by swimmers
  • Performs rescue work and renders first aid until a qualified doctor or emergency personnel are present
  • Performs daily housekeeping tasks to ensure cleanliness, sanitation and appearance of pool and related facilities
  • May operate a computer and receive money for fees and class registration
  • Determines patron eligibility
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

  • Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation.

Qualifications

Must be a responsible individual with a pleasant, courteous attitude who can communicate effectively with the public. A neat and clean appearance required. Incumbent will need to quickly acquire a basic knowledge of the rules and practices of the equipment used. Successful completion of National Agency Background (NACI) Check required. This position may require the incumbent to be available to work special events, weekends and holidays. Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Must be at least 16 years old. Must possess a valid lifeguarding certification from a recognized agency or obtain it within 30 days of hire. Must be able to pass a 250 yard timed swim test. Must be able to communicate orally and in writing.

Additional information

Salary is dependent on experience and/or education. Some positions have special requirements. Selectee may be required to complete a one (1) year probationary period.
