Duties

Help

As an Auditor, GS-0511-12, you will perform audits on a variety of programs and assess efficiency, effectiveness and compliance with program laws, regulations, and provisions; serve as an auditor-in-charge of audit programs or difficult audit projects; synthesize the work of team members to develop a completed audit product; assess the progress of subordinate team members in their individual assignments; and provide performance feedback to team members regarding weaknesses and approaches to fact-finding; provide information to a higher level supervisor for consideration in interim and annual performance appraisals, and assessment of overall program management.

Qualifications

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Service "under the authority of Title 5, P.L. 114-328, Sections 932 and 1084 (FY17 NDAA)", and is open to US citizens interested in helping the Department of the Army meet our mission requirements as an Auditor.

PCS: Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs, Recruitment or Relocation Incentive MAY be authorized. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses, Recruitment or Relocation Incentive will be granted ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard.

FLNG BUS Code 8888: This position is "excluded" and ineligible for labor organization representation.

NOTE:Selectee must be Financial Manager Level 2 qualified within 2 years of employment.

POSITIVE EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: Must have a Degree in Accounting or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included - or - was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to six hours of credit in business law. Transcripts must be uploaded to substantiate your claims.

GENRAL EXPERIENCE: Must have experience, education, or training, collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately; applying procedures and directives by reading and interpreting program material; comprehending and/or applying problem solving and negotiating techniques; presenting formal training presentations and briefings; and preparing reports and presentation formats.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-12 must have at least 1 year equivalent specialized experience to at least the next lower grade level; experience with financial audit and/or performance audit experiences that led to performing work consisting of a systematic examination and appraisal of financial records, financial and management reports, management controls, performance requirements, policies, and practices affecting or reflecting the financial condition and operating results of various activities. Analyze work related to the development and execution of many military and civilian policies and programs. Conduct performance audit reviews and conduct activities related to the detection of fraud, waste, and abuse; perform research, analysis, problem-solving, writing, and judgment typically gained through college education and progressively responsible experiences. Perform work that follows established audit methods and procedures; uses practical knowledge of operations, procedures, and policies of specific program areas or functional assignment; and typically learn to do the work through certification courses and specialized experiences. Apply problem solving techniques; and skills in communicating effectively both orally and in writing.
