Duties

Help

The primary purpose of this position is to be responsible for the economic and efficient operation of the Outdoor Recreation program on Holloman AFB.

The primary duties of this position under the supervision of the Outdoor Recreation (ODR) Supervisory Recreation Specialist, include but are not limited to:

  • Assists in the planning, implementation, development, coordination, and administration of a military outdoor recreation program which is diversified and serves a participant community of active duty, retired military, reserve forces, authorized civilian employees, and their family members.
  • Assists with the developing of goals and objectives for the Outdoor Recreation Programs which meet agency intent.
  • Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships.
  • Assists ODR Supervisory Recreation Specialist with budgeting and fiscal requirements.
  • Assists in evaluating the effectiveness of ongoing outdoor recreation activities from the standpoint of participants' response, resources, unforeseen developments, and program evaluations.
  • Assists with maintaining an accurate account of daily sales revenue, operational funds, fixed assets, and property.
  • Prepares and submits work order requests as required.
  • Assist in organizing and publicizing outdoor activities, assuring maximum effectiveness in attracting and motivating participants, which includes the completion and submission of marketing requests for event promotion.
  • Assists in the planning and scheduling of outdoor activities such as, but not limited to biking, camping, canoeing, ice skating, kayaking, paintball, rock climbing, scuba diving, skiing, skydiving, snowboarding, swimming, white water rafting and overnight recreational trips.
  • Ensures that safety orientation is provided regarding specific activities.
  • Acts as the Supervisory Recreation Specialist when they are out of the office.
  • May supervise personnel assigned to Outdoor Recreation Program, when needed.
  • Assists with assigning, directing, and reviewing the work of subordinate employees; may evaluate employee work performance; make recommendations on selections, status changes and disciplinary actions; assists with planning schedules, and coordinating work operations, and explaining management policies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifying Experience:

  • Experience which has provided a general familiarity with the routines and procedures followed in Outdoor Recreation programs is desired.
  • In addition, familiarity with equipment maintenance and recreation programming is desired.
  • Cash handling experience is required.
  • Must have demonstrated the ability to perform satisfactorily at the grade level of the position.


Education
