Duties

Help

Perform medical photography duties in Pathology, operating rooms, other labs, clinics, wards, intensive care units, trauma units and morgue.
Photograph laboratory and surgical procedures; eye and intraoral close-up shots; test tubes and culture plates; bodies and or specimens with infectious diseases; and gross specimens from surgery and the morgue on gross stands
Operate a variety of cameras at proper speeds in various situations to ensure accurate portrayal of depth and color.
Conduct the setting up of equipment, including laying video and audio cables; interconnecting video cameras, remote control units, special effects generators, teleprompter, video recorders, monitors, and various audio equipment.
Examine digital images and video for quality and need for corrective action.
Produce video programs for medical teaching and video documentation for legal, research or scientific purposes.
Mix and record audio onto videotape by careful selection and placement of microphones to obtain optimum audio results.
Edit videotape to produce a smooth-flowing production with continuity of narration, dialogue, super-imposing and audio- dubbing.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: In order to qualify, your resume must demonstrate that you possess at least one year of specialized experience which includes photographing patients during surgical procedures; photographing test tubes, culture plates, or specimens in a laboratory; utilizing manual processes or automated equipment to produce a variety of photographic material; and editing, dubbing, and completing video projects. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
