This position requires a Public Trust Background Investigation.
The incumbent of this position has been designated as essential personnel, and as such will be expected to report to work or work extra time even if the Board is officially closed during emergency situations, such as inclement weather. Non-exempt employees are eligible for overtime pay in accordance with the Board's policy and legal requirements.

High school diploma or equivalent experience. Must possess seven years specialized experience. Must possess an inĀ depth knowledge of the methods and techniques associated with the carpentry trade to include design, fabrication, and installation of furniture and cabinetry, ceilings, framing, and drywall applications. Demonstrate strong math skills for layouts, measuring, cutting, and installing materials. Understands specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials requirements. Must be able to interact and display tact and diplomacy at all levels within the Board staff. Thorough knowledge of the materials, methods, and use of tools involved in the trade. Must be able to read blueprints. Basic knowledge and capability in the use of personal computers for tracking and maintaining unit activities is desirable. A demonstrated commitment to a strong customer service philosophy. Must have a current driver license.
The Senior Carpenter/Cabinetmaker must possess the ability to perform the job with little or no supervision. Performs advanced, skilled, and technical work in maintaining, repairing, installing, and building structure.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
Work requires considerable bending, kneeling, and stooping. Strenuous physical exertion is sometimes required when handling heavy and bulky materials. Uses manual or portable power tools for extended periods in uncomfortable positions. On-site work typically requires bending, stooping, crawling, and climbing on ladders, scaffolding, and rooftops. May lift and move materials up to 50 pounds, unassisted and occasionally lift or move heavier items with the assistance of lifting devices or other workers. Work is performed in shop areas where worker is exposed to moderate or high noise levels from operating machinery, sawdust, fumes, and hazards associated with woodworking and related power equipment. Workers may be exposed to weather conditions and the hazards of working on and around scaffolds and ladders. Subject to cuts, bruises, and contusions. May work in confined areas such as crawl spaces and attics which may be dusty and dirty.
Provides training and technical expertise to other employees of the carpentry shop.
This position will work first shift. 6:00am-2:30 M-F. Some situational second or third shift work may be required on occasion.
High school diploma or equivalent experience.
