This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Office of the Secretary, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Policy, Management and Budget, Office of the Associate Chief Information Officer located in Washington, D.C.

This position is being advertised as both location negotiable after selection and with a duty station(s) of Washington, D.C. and Lakewood, CO with the option of telework. If applying to "negotiable after selection", this means that your duty station will be based off your home address and you will be a full-time remote worker. If applying to a specific duty station, you may be allowed to telework a set number of day(s) per pay period, with supervisory approval.

At the full performance level (GS-14) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
1. The Associate Privacy Officer (APO) is responsible for the Bureau privacy program management and coordination with the Department Privacy Officer (DPO) for organizational and public privacy issues.
2. The APO enforces the Departmental privacy policy and Bureau privacy policy.
3. The APO oversees and manages the Bureau privacy program activities in coordination with the Department Privacy Officer. This includes monitoring and analyzing privacy laws and requirements and applying these to Bureau systems, advising and providing guidance to staff to mitigate privacy related risks and ensure compliance with policy, and coordinating and handling privacy incidents.
4. The APO reports metrics for the bureau programs to the DPO for budgets, Congress and other oversight bodies.
5. The APO analyzes and reports privacy source systems, databases, applications and projects in support of the Department privacy program, laws, policies and regulations.

OS has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval.

The work is mostly sedentary. Some travel is required, both within and outside the local commuting area. Occasional travel may be required to field activities for compliance review, determination of activity performance, and to conduct training and/or technical assistance. The incumbent must be able to function well under stressful conditions, often working under very tight deadlines involving projects of national significance.

Work is performed primarily in office areas, conference rooms, and similar environments. No hazardous conditions are anticipated.

Financial Disclosure: You will be required to file an Employment and Financial Interest-OGE-450.

Salary Information
GS-14:

Washington, DC: $139,395 - $181,216 per annum
Lakewood, CO: $135,860 - $176,620 per annum
Remote: $122,198 - $158,860 per annum
First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the lower salary range of the grade level.

This vacancy may be used to fill additional positions as vacancies become available.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:
To qualify for this position you must meet the Specialized Experience for the series/grade to which you are applying.

Specialized Experience
To qualify for the GS-14, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience:

1) Producing written Privacy Act, OMB guidance and/or other legal requirements for privacy policy and its application to information resource management, Department policies and other areas of privacy law in order to meet responsibilities for compliance initiatives;
2) gathering, assembling, interpreting and analyzing a vast amount of complex privacy and security related technical data and materials concerning privacy policies, plans and incidents; and
3) conducting Privacy Impact Assessments to ensure the identification and protection of privacy information.
