Help

  • You will rework, modify and test complex air weapon systems.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
1) Applying Quality Assurance procedures, standardized rules, and techniques associated with the implementation of the Quality Assurance programs; 2) Utilizing understanding of rework procedures, documentation and technical specifications relative to the rework of aircraft, engines, components, accessories and associated logs and records; and 3) Assisting in evaluating and/or publishing a variety of Quality data generated within and external to Quality Competency such as Discrepancy Work Orders, Quality Deficiency Reports (QDR), Quality Audit Reports, etc.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) A demonstrated practical knowledge in monitoring, controlling, or maintaining the quality of products or services in quality assurance, procurement, inspection, production, or related areas such as Aircraft Ordnance; 2) Review production activities and capabilities considering contract quality requirement; 3) Review written quality or inspection procedures for adequacy and evaluating the implementation and effectiveness of quality/inspection systems, including sampling plans; 4) Review for accuracy all pertinent training documentation of personnel being nominated for ordnance qualification and certification; and 5) Inspect explosives for serviceability, shelf life, expiration and integrity of explosives prior to and during installation in aircraft in accordance with CAD/PAD technical data.

Education

Education may be substituted for specialized experience as follows:

FOR THE GS-09: Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree with major study in quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or another field related to the position.
OR
Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree with major study in quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or another field related to the position.
OR
Obtained an LL.B. or J.D. that is related to the position being filled.

FOR THE GS-07: Successful completion of one full year of graduate level education with major study in quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or another field related to the position.
OR
Successful completion of a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement with major study in quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or another field related to the position.
OR
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. My percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.

THIS IS A DIRECT HIRE ANNOUNCEMENT. Section 1109 of the National Defense Authorization Act Fiscal Year 2020 Public Law 116-92 amended Section 9905 of title 5, United States Code (U.S.C.) to streamline and simplify certain Department of Defense civilian Direct Hire Authorities to recruit and appoint qualified candidates directly to certain positions in the competitive service in the Department of Defense.
