Duties

Help

1. Performs a broad range of operations research assignments entailing unique problems, creativity, innovative use of techniques, advanced approaches, and/or new technologies.
2. Utilizes scientific inquiry in the independent development of mathematical models and computer programs to evaluate and predict the ability to support assigned projects, studies, or problems.
3. Provides technical guidance, advisory support, and assistance on an entire project and/or major phases for broad and varied operations.
4. Provides Expert Intelligence Cost Analysis to **AFLCMC/IN's personnel and AFLCMC/IN's subordinate units. Accomplishes various independent cost analyses, estimates, and studies in support of the organization's Acquisitions Intelligence mission.
5. Accomplishes professional development and maintains technical proficiency. Maintains knowledge, skills, and ability proficiency through professional interaction with technical and professional societies, associations, academia, symposia, contractors, research, and development (R&D) organizations, and participation in formal training programs.

Position is designated special-sensitive and requires eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), other intelligence-related Special Sensitive information, or involvement in Top Secret Special Access Programs (SAP) to fully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. A nondisclosure agreement must be signed.
2. Drug Testing: This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety. 3. This is a Financial Management Level 2 Certified position IAW the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012, Public Law 112-81, Subtitle F-Financial Management, Section 1599d. Incumbent shall comply with the requirements of this certification program.
4. Positions designated as an acquisition position: Positions are covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) and the employee must meet, or be capable of meeting, Defense Acquisition Work Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements applicable to the duties of the position.

BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:

Degree: in operations research; or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus. NOTE A copy of your official transcripts is required


In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Examples of creditable experience include: applying professional knowledge of engineering, mathematics, statistical analysis, modeling/simulation and/or other scientific concepts, principles, standards, methods, techniques, practices, and procedures; utilizing scientific inquiry in the independent development of mathematical models and computer programs to evaluate and predict the ability to support assigned projects, studies, or problems; and providing technical guidance, advisory support, and assistance on an entire project and/or major phases for broad and varied operations. Note: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of engineering, mathematics, statistical analysis, modeling/simulation, and/or other scientific concepts, principles, standards, methods, techniques, practices, and procedures.
2. Knowledge and understanding of agency, AF, Department of Defense (DoD) and national-level doctrine, regulations, policies, guidelines, requirements, and initiatives related to assigned program(s) and/or project(s).
3. Knowledge of security procedures to maintain control of classified material.
4. Skill in applying analytical and evaluative techniques to identify, investigate, resolve complex issues or problems, and modify standard practices and techniques to solve complex interrelated problems.
5. Skill, judgment, resourcefulness, originality, and ability to foresee the impact of changing technology.
6. Skill in the application of analytical methods and techniques, mathematical and statistical analysis, and various cost estimating techniques to analyze and evaluate the effects of changes in program plans and funding; and ability to interpret financial data and draw sound conclusions; draw logical courses of actions and offer a recommendation.
7. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, in order to produce highly technical reports, position papers, and briefings; resolve conflicts based on mature judgment and experience; effectively negotiate complex issues; and maintain good working relationships.
