Duties

Help

Provides second level engineering support for an air traffic messaging service system. Develops procedures and plans for the maintenance of an air traffic messaging service system. Develops test plan and procedures including user acceptance, regression and system test. Monitors the development and development testing of an air traffic messaging service system. Documents and analyzes requirements to ensure they meet the intended objectives.


Performs activities to support second level engineering processes and work. Activities include NAS field support and restoration, software modifications, configuration management, and 28-day database releases.


Provides technical support to NAS facilities to assist NAS personnel in the restoration of facilities through direct support remotely or on-site. Provides support for the analysis of problems and the implementation of measures to restore an asset to operational status and implementation and verification of modifications. Coordinates work related to NAS outages or loss of service and provides support for administrative and reporting functions related to restoration. Facilitates status meetings with system stakeholders and international telecommunication services.

Performs analysis, design, test and implementation of software modifications to NAS systems including site adaptation. Conducts engineering studies for enhancements, operational problems, proof of concept, feasibility, operational impacts, implementation, or alternatives analysis. Conducts verification and validation activities to ensure modifications requirements are unambiguous, correct, complete, consistent, and operationally feasible. Conducts test and evaluation of modifications.


Maintains technical instruction books, maintenance handbooks and user manuals to provide technical direction and guidance. Produces documentation to establish and maintain the product baseline.

To qualify for this position, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-H / FG/GS-10-12. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.

Specialized experience is: Experience providing second level support for a complex technical messaging service system in support of the National Airspace System and experience using domestic and international telecommunication services and message handling systems.
