This position is in the office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Sustainment (ASD(S)). The ASD(S) is directly responsible to the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment and provides advice and assistance to DoD senior leaders on logistics, material readiness, and product support.
Summary
This position is in the office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Sustainment (ASD(S)). The ASD(S) is directly responsible to the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment and provides advice and assistance to DoD senior leaders on logistics, material readiness, and product support.
The major duties and responsibilities of the Regional Sustainment Director will include, but are not limited to:
Serve as principal advisor to the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Product Support and Assistant Secretary of Defense for Sustainment on matters of aiding Military Departments in conjunction with industry and international allies and partners in the areas of product support planning and management of regional sustainment strategies.
Lead Regional Sustainment Strategies development, policy, and implementation by exploiting opportunities that are inherent to the U.S. and international partner commercial and organic industrial base when working together. This involves implementing three key objectives: Prevail in contested logistics environments; enhance military readiness; and strengthen regional partnerships.
Lead and manage the requirements for Fiscal Year 2024 National Defense Authorization Act, Section 842, Demonstration and Prototyping Program to advance International Product Support Capabilities in a Contested Logistics Environment and submit to Congress a report summarizing Program activities in two years of Program Establishment prior to the expiration on the Congressional language in three years.
Serve as the Regional Sustainment Framework focal point to include communicating with partner nations, workforce, industry, and other Federal agencies focused on integrated deterrence and strengthening ally support arrangements in a contested logistics environment.
Engage with partner nations to determine their capabilities, Combat Commanders to determine their priorities for critical operational capabilities, Military Services to establish regional sustainment strategies, and US/International industry to execute regional sustainment strategies.

ECQ 5 - Building Coalitions: This core qualification involves the ability to build coalitions internally and with other Federal agencies, State and local governments, nonprofit and private sector organizations, foreign governments, or international organizations to achieve common goals.
MANDATORY TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS: All applicants must submit written statements (narrative format) of accomplishments that would satisfy the technical qualifications. 1. Demonstrated expertise and oversight for regional sustainment strategy (RSS) analysis, development, and execution, product support planning, and proposals for life cycle logistics policies, procedures, and training.
2. Demonstrated experience in the analysis of regional partnership logistical support and operations and life cycle costs using data and experience in determining and evaluating requirements with the ability to devise practical solutions in contested logistics environments.
3. Demonstrated experience to support and develop forward sustainment initiatives inclusive of maintenance, repair, overhaul, and upgrade programs within an operational capabilities' context, as well as proper consideration of international, technical, and economic aspects.
