Duties

Help

You will:

  • Provide administrative support to the branch supervisor and staff by coordinating and facilitating Region 4 activities.
  • Manage administrative functions including processing incoming and outgoing materials, scheduling and coordinating meetings/conferences, and monitoring office equipment/supplies.
  • Perform office automation services to create and maintain the program website.
  • Establish administrative support office policies and procedures.

This position is designated as Low Risk and requires a background investigation. Unless an appropriate background investigation is already on record with the Office of Personnel Management, you must undergo a background investigation. All conditions of the pre-employment security process must be met before an official letter of employment can be issued with a report for duty date.

If you are selected, you may be required to complete a one-year probationary period.

Qualifications

NOTE:  You must meet qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

To qualify for the GS-08 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-07 level defined as coordinating and executing administrative services for an organization; updating data or information to track administrative tasks; and providing administrative guidance to staff.

In addition to meeting the experience and/or education requirements described above, you must possess the following skill: 40 words per minute typing speed.

Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas:

  • Knowledge of administrative concepts and principles.
  • Ability to manage office records.
  • Skill in written communication.
  • Skill in oral communication.
  • Knowledge of computer languages sufficient to develop linkage capabilities and procedure.
  • Ability to use and advise on desktop software.
  • Ability to advise others on administrative procedures and practices.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
