Duties

Help

  • This position provides graphic design and digital content services for BJA;
  • Develops, designs, and provides a variety of high-quality graphics, digital and print publications, infographics, branded materials, logos, and other visual communication deliverables based on proficiency in and experience with graphic design principles, best practices, platforms, 508 compliance and branding;
  • Works with supervisor and team to manage, develop, coordinate, align, and implement brand and design guidelines for web and digital platforms, communication products, templates, documents, and graphic products;
  • Manages, executes, and tracks visual communications projects through the full project lifecycle, from initial stages through final deliverables.

Qualifications

Basic Entry Requirements:

  • Undergraduate and Graduate Education in a major field of study, including commercial art, fine arts, art history, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position.
OR
  • Experience planning the preparation and use of photographs, illustrations, drawings, and other artwork, charts, diagrams, dioramas, maps, slides, overlays, and other kinds of visual material for use in communicating information through visual means.

Specialized Experience:
Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level. Specialized experience is experience which is in or related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.

Examples of specialized experience include:

  • Developing and designing a variety of high-quality graphics, digital publications, infographics, branded materials, logos, and other visual communication deliverables based on proficiency in and experience with graphic design principles, best practices, platforms, and branding;
  • Managing, executing, and tracking visual communication projects through the full project lifecycle, from initial stages through final deliverables, with minimal supervision and ensuring that deliverables were completed accurately and on time;
  • Supporting organizational branding development, adherence, and improvements. Developing branded templates (e.g., PowerPoints, publications) to assist staff in product development;
  • Creating or managing a photo/video/graphics library that was easy to navigate, organized efficiently, and updated regularly. Managing licensing and image rights/use.

  • Technology Management: Keeps up-to-date on technological developments. Makes effective use of technology to achieve results. Ensures access to and security of technology systems.

  • This position has a duty station of Washington, D.C. The selectee will be required to physically report to the OJP office building at least four (4) days per bi-weekly pay period and may incorporate leave and official travel plans into this reporting requirement. The office director or supervisor may request the selectee's presence in the office more frequently, as determined by the needs of the office. The selectee will be responsible for covering all commuting-related travel expenses. OJP employees are eligible for one transportation benefit - parking or the Department of Justice (DOJ) transit subsidy.
